FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Dancing

It’s Thursday and once again Lillie McFerrin  [http://www.lilliemcferrin.com] has offered up another one of her prompts for her Five Sentence Fiction blog.

This week she’s chosen to give the word “DANCING” as the word to base your endeavors. Hopefully you’ll enjoy my endeavor where once again I’m using an acrostic format.  I await your comments so I can respond.

ONE DANCE WAS ALL IT TOOK

DA NCING has always been the favorite pastime for Michael and Charlene ever since they met at their high school prom.

N  early fifty years ago there, they sat, two wallflowers staring at each other while everyone danced.

C  ursing themselves that no one had come over to ask for a dance all night simply because no one would have thought they had the ability.

IN secure, Michael finally got up the nerve and timidly turned to ask Charlene for a dance, which she nervously accepted.

G  racefully they started to dance to the amazement of everyone there; their dance card now filled for the rest of the night, and their lives.

  1. Lovely take on the prompt this week! LOVED the format! You're right, we're part of the mushy club this week and I love it!

    1. Hi Melanie

THANKS for the wonderful compliment. I can see you enjoyed reading it.

Considering we're all a little mushy this week, I find it a coincidence my OH had decided to take to few days off this week and sandwich them between two holidays.

I love usually the acrostic format, as it makes it a bigger challenge to come up with something. I've used this format for quite a while now, and the following I feel is the best one I've ever come up with.

If you didn't leave a comment when I'd originally posted it. I'd still love to hear what you think of it.

      Have a GREAT SUNDAY !!! :-) :-) :-)

    1. Glad you liked reading this. I've submitted three of these Five Sentence Fictions for consideration for inclusion in a new literary e-zine due out next month.
And six, five with a little tweaking, are scheduled to be published in an anthology of short stories with HIV/AIDS as one of its themes.

    2. Nice-Sounds fun. In the book I wrote, Al and Shirley danced like that for the first time at the 1913 prom under a glitter moon and crepe paper sky. He proposed and they married the next day! ...Good job.

    1. THANKS for the compliment Crystal.
Hope you decide to check her site [link provided above]

This form of Flash Fiction is unique as you're only allowed Five Sentence in which to tell your story.

I love adding to the challenge from time to time when I write my response by using the prompt word to form an acrostic like I did it the above. Using the acrostic limits the possible words I can use to start the FSF, and as I write each subsequent sentence the possible words I can use gets less and less.

I love writing these especially when I begin to suffer from writer's block as it helps me to get the creative juices flowing inside those little grey cells of my mind.

Have a GREAT WEEK in whatever you might do. !!! :-) :-) :-)
