BOOK REVIEW # 2015 - 119 - BEGINNER READER: The Missing Melon

What family doesn’t enjoy a day in the park, playing games and having a picnic?  But what happens when the watermelon you wanted to enjoy goes missing?  This is what happened to Sarah and Sammy Swisher and their parents.

Once they discovered it was gone they decided to become detectives, just like The Two Alexes in an series of books written for somewhat older readers by this author, and to try to discover any clue they can to solve this mystery. When they find it, they knew the melon no longer could be eaten because of what had happened to it. They laughed because they’ve found it and had lots of fun doing it.

The illustrations are once again a wonderful addition in helping its young readers to visualize the story; which is why I’ve given this book 5 STARS. Since the author hasn’t stated who drew them, I have to assume she’s the illustrator for this book as well.
