FIVE SENTENCE FICTION - Doors

Here we go again. It’s another Thursday, and another prompt word by Lillie on her website [http://www.lilliemcferrin.com], to challenge our ability to respond with a Five Sentence [Flash] Fiction. This week she’s challenged us with the prompt word of “DOORS”, and this week I’ve once again chosen to use my “almost trademark” acrostic format to respond with.

GETTING A SECOND CHANCE

Dorothy and her two friends had been captured by a wicked sorcerer, and were told they could each have a chance for freedom if they’d separate and go their separate ways by opening one of three DOORS through which they’d have to walk through.

Opening DOOR number three her friend Lillie walked through and quickly disappeared.

Opening DOOR number one her friend Robin Leigh walked through and likewise disappeared.

Reluctant to open the remaining DOOR, Dorothy finally opened it and walked through it as well.

Surprised by seeing her two friends at the other end, they immediately agreed to choose the other path in the woods which they’d first come to at the fork in the road, instead of the one which had lead them to the sorcerer’s castle the first time.

  1. It is cool how much information you can get into five sentences. I will have to try the five sentence flash fiction myself.

    1. THANKS for the compliment Elle. If you go to the link I provided above you'll see how your observation matches the goal of what writing these FSF [Five Sentence Fiction] is all about. While there's definitely a sort of challenge in writing a FSF response each week, I love to add a level of difficulty by using an acrostic format; and the longer the word the greater the challenge is to write one. You're invited to read the one I did for FREEDOM last week, or the ones I did back around in November 2013.

      Have a GREAT WEEKEND with your family. !!! :-) :-) :-)

    1. THANKS for the compliment Donna. This time I reply to Lillie's prompt word I try to tell a story in the mere five sentences which I'm allowed to use. And each time I try to tell it in a somewhat different manner than the week before. You're invited to read any of my other Five Sentence Fictions.

      Have a GREAT WEEKEND with your family !!! :-) :-) :-)

  3. I chose to respond here rather than elsewhere as I am here right now and not elsewhere. I feel as though I have invaded upon you in using this same style to try the flash fiction and I am sorry if it offends you in any way. I have not yet gotten your feedback on the subject but people seem to like it when I write them as well. I think you are very talented and I admire what you do. Please let me know if you feel wrongly regarding this or if I am "ok". LOL, you inspired me to write fiction again, something I have not done for a few years.
I look forward to further reading the things you write and your LinkedIn contributions. If you get time please stop by and check out my variations on the 5SF on my blog, I would be honored to have your opinion on them.
